Coastal Hamptons Beach House

Yaroomba, Sunshine Coast, Queensland

Coastal Hamptons Beach House Archietcture and DesignYaroomba Render of Concept Design of Sunshine Coast, Queensland

Set in Yaroomba on the Sunshine Coast, this home has been designed to respond specifically to our clients brief.

N&M knew exactly what they wanted and Whiteroom has made it work. Taking inspiration from local Queensland Architecture, the trend of the time, our client's vision is represented in this Coastal Hampton Beach House.

Designed to connect indoors and outdoors, the whole frontage of the building is occupied by a large veranda that connects living and cooking areas to the front garden and pool area. The rear of the house wraps around a North-facing Courtyard bringing light and air to the interior which seamlessly blends traditional style with modern convenience.

Upstairs features a generous master suite that takes advantage of cooling sea-breezes and views of the ocean to the east and Mt Coolum to the south-west.

Modern Architectural House

Chelmer, Queensland

Inspired by a Granny Flat that we had created for Urban Granny Flat Solutions, our Clients J&P wanted to push the architectural expression of the design to the limit.

We more than doubled the size of the original granny flat and created a spacious 4 bedroom home that centres around a garden courtyard.

A brick spine links the front of the house to the back and features high-level windows along its length, facing towards the morning sun, allowing natural light to permeate the home.

A courtyard separates the public and private wings of the house and creates a focal point from the moment you enter the house and anchors your location within the house from every room.

Masterfully built by the team at One Solution Building Services, we can't wait to get our professional photographer through for a few new shots now that the landscaping is done and our clients have settled in. Stay tuned for more.

Queenslander Renovation

Red Hill, Queensland

Queenslander Architecture Red Hill Brisbane Character Design

The J-House for our lovely clients, J & J.

A 1960's house occupied this difficult site in the hilly suburb of Red Hill.

Following a conceptual design stage that investigated options for the building, it was decided to raise the existing house and extend it towards the street, one side and the rear. A new extended roof structure over the entire building completed the house in a cohesive manner.

The additions created a modern and liveable space that still captured the essence and charm of the interior of the building, and reflects the local Queenslander vernacular in a new way, reflective of the buildings time and place.

Additions to Character House

Paddington, Queensland

This cute and character-filled cottage in the heart of Paddington was the dream-home for down-sizers R&E.

The house itself had previously been renovated and oozed traditional charm both inside and out but for our clients, a few features were missing to make it their forever home.

Whiteroom Architects designed a rear deck extension with feature hardwood columns that support cascading roofs allowing the connection of the old cottage to a new carport.

The carport roof was positioned deliberately to act as a screen to the neighbouring cottage down the hill while allowing views of the ridge-line beyond. The cascading roofs also offer shelter from the Western Sun whilst opening up to the vast suburban views found in that direction.

We are proud of this example showing how new style additions work well with and accentuate the character of our Queensland homes, without the need to copy exactly the existing form.

Modern Farmhouse

Moogerah, Queensland

This modern farmhouse at Moogerah is a customisation of a design that we prepared for Urban Granny Flat Solutions range of granny flats.

Customised to meet the needs of wonderful clients C&G, the new farmhouse will allow an expanding family to continue to live together on this multi-generational family farm at the base of magnificent Mt Greville.

Using the architectural principles of aspect and refuge, the building is positioned on the site to take advantage of views, connect with the landscape and shield its occupants from the harshest elements of its environment.

Constructed by Urban Granny Flat Solutions, and photographed by Incmill throughout it's build, we are looking forward to sharing more photos of the completed build shortly. Stay tuned for more.

Queenslander Raise and Build-Under

Greenslopes, Queensland

A character house in the hospital precinct of Greenslopes will be given a new lease on life and be transformed into a family home for the 21st Century.

Retaining the Character features, reconfiguring the interior, extending to the rear and building-in underneath will see a new 5 bedroom house become a home for a family for years to come.

We have used our in-depth knowledge of Brisbane's Character homes and the Town Planning and Building regulations around what can and can't be done with Character homes to come up with a value-for-money solution to our clients' needs.

Using minimal intervention, many of the Character features are retained in the original cottage, while a more modern design approach was used in the extensions, which connect to the gardens via expansive decking.

8 New Townhouses

Greenslopes, Queensland

Photo of Sackville Street Townhouses

This 8-townhouse development was conceived, designed, detailed and project managed by Whiteroom Architects from pre-purchase feasibility investigations through development approval, detailed design, tender, construction, sub-division, sales and defect rectification.

Designed to make the most of the site in an area undergoing significant development, the buildings settle into the site in keeping and enhancing the character of the neighbourhood.

Received well by the market with the first sale exceeding the asking price, the product hit the mark by providing high-quality accommodation at an affordable price.

We strongly believe that good infill development like these townhouses, in areas of high demand, are a good thing for the community as a wider range of people can gain entry into the areas that they wish to live without being crammed into high-rise apartment blocks.

7 New Townhouses

Indooroopilly, Queensland

Currently under Town Planning assessment with Brisbane City Council, Whiteroom Architects is working closely with neighbours and Council Planners to obtain development approval.

Catering to 'the missing middle' this infill development aims to provide high-quality housing options for people wanting to live in the heart of Indooroopilly but that prefer Townhouse living over unit-dwelling, and also value the benefits of community living - low maintenance, passive security and connection to the local neighbourhood.

Whiteroom Architects has prepared a variety of options for the site and engaged in community consultation to develop and refine a proposal that responds to the site topography, access to natural light and breezes, and presents a modern Queensland vernacular architecture.
